Abrasive Wheels Training

This training course is designed for workers who use abrasive wheels in the workplace.

The Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER98) apply to all work at with abrasive wheels where there is a risk liable to cause personal injury.

These regulations place duties on employers, the self-employed, in addition to any person that controls the work of others (for example, facilities managers or building owners who may contract others to working with abrasive wheels).

Course Content

The Abrasive Wheels training provides information on the following :-

  • Health and Safety at legislation
    Approved Code of practice
  • Identification and inspection of equipment as well as the reporting procedures
  • Identify potentially hazardous situations
  • PPE selection and use
  • Guarding
  • Storage and Handling
  • Types of abrasive and understanding the importance of selecting the appropriate equipment
  • Practical fitting

We can deliver these courses, at short notice, to companies, organisations and groups of individuals and fit the course content to your existing work shift patterns. Ideal candidates for this course:

This course is designed for workers in the construction and trades industry who use portable tools that have an abrasive or cutting wheel, commonly known as angle grinders, grinding wheels, cut-off saws, disc cutters, skill saws, Stihl saws, con saws or ‘whizzers’. This course can be used by people working in high risk environments as a general introduction alongside suitable supplementary, hazards specific training.
